Kingston Kendo Club Instructors (Sempai)


Steve Quinlan started practicing Kendo in Halifax, Nova Scotia as one of the original members of the Dalhousie Kendo Club in 1999. The club evolved and eventually changed its name to the Halifax Kendo Club (HKC). Steve served as webmaster, president, and instructor of the HKC from 2001-2005 until in October of 2005 he moved to Kingston, Ontario where he and Christina Quinlan founded the Kingston Kendo Club (KKC) in 2006.

Before moving to Kingston Steve obtained his Masters Degree in Applied Mathmatics, specializing in Relativistic Cosmology, at Dalhousie University. He also taught first and second year Mathmatics at both Dalhousie University and Saint Mary's University.



Christina Quinlan began practicing Kendo at the University of Toronto Kendo club (UofT) in 2002, where she served as webmaster for the club until moving to Kingston, Ontario to attend Medical School at the University of Queens in 2005. In 2006 Christina and Steve Quinlan founded the Kingston Kendo Club (KKC).

Before moving to Kingston, Christina completed her Bachelor of Science, Honours, in Immunolgy at UofT.
